My BMW | The New App for YOUR BMW

We forget who coined the phrase, but “The world, connected” seems pretty true right now; the Internet of Things means that we have everything from dishwashers to fridge freezers connected to the world, and of course, car manufacturers are making fine use of the smart technology.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that we’d pay hundreds of pounds for a simple remote access to our vehicles, and now thanks to the smartphone, and data connections, we can virtually control every aspect of our motoring life.

BMW haven’t missed that trick, and their new smartphone app is everything that you’d want it to be. With that said, if you’re not an app-y kind of person, your BMW will work just fine without it.

The new BMW ‘My BMW’ app is a direct connection to your car, and you don’t need to be sitting in it either – purely remote (although the BMW cabin is pretty nice … who knows, you may just like sitting in it anyway!).

Just like their cars, and their e-bikes, BMW have designed this to work, and give something useful to the user – this isn’t a poorly designed app with limited functionality just so BMW can claim they’ve done it.

It offers a number of functions, but some of the highlights include:

Reliable navigation and map services, which include being able to send your next destination directly to your BMW, and dependent on which BMW you have, checking the range and vehicle status before you leave.

Ever have that ‘I’m not sure if I locked my car’ moment? Remote locking is easily done through the app, so you’ll never have to worry again.

Keeping on top of servicing is easy too – the app gives you direct access to BMW service, which means it can tell you when your car needs servicing, and even enables you to book a service through it.

There’s smart e-mobility features built-in, which work with the latest BEV & PHEV (Battery Electric Vehicle and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) BMWs, and there are regular updates and expansions of the services offered.
